Karen Lynch became President and CEO of CVS Health in 2021, taking the helm of a company that was in the midst of one of the most ambitious transformations in healthcare. Following CVS’s $69 billion acquisition of Aetna in 2018, Karen Lynch was tasked with integrating a pharmacy chain, a pharmacy benefits manager, and a health insurance company into a single healthcare platform. The vision: make CVS the front door to healthcare in America.

Under Karen Lynch’s leadership, CVS Health has expanded its primary care capabilities through in-store clinics, acquisitions like Oak Street Health and Signify Health, and digital health tools that connect pharmacy, clinical, and insurance data. Karen Lynch’s strategy is to meet patients where they are — in the roughly 9,000 CVS locations that are already within 10 minutes of the majority of Americans. Karen Lynch’s healthcare integration playbook is being closely watched as a model for how retail, pharmacy, and insurance can converge to improve care and reduce costs.
